About Clare Jaycock
Clare is part of our General Liability and Medical Group and deals with a wide range of medical work including malpractice, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings and general advisory work.
She defends healthcare professionals such as doctors, dentists, nurses and complementary medical practitioners against all types of claims for malpractice, and her caseload includes matters of the highest value and complexity. Clare has experience of group actions and multi-party court proceedings and is well versed in all aspects of dispute resolution, including the use of round-table ‘without prejudice’ meetings and mediation.
Clare has a particular specialism in professional regulation and discipline. She represents medical professionals facing proceedings before their regulatory body, with extensive experience before the General Medical Council and the General Dental Council. She assists practitioners facing disciplinary procedures, for example pursuant to the Performers’ Lists Regulations and/or the General Medical Services or General Dental Services contract. She also advises practitioners under scrutiny by the National Clinical Assessment Service or facing review following patient complaint.
Clare’s advisory work is wide in its ambit and includes assistance following patient complaint and advice on consent, confidentiality and data protection issues. She also has particular expertise in the fields of clinical governance and risk management.
