We have a robust equality policy and are members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) legal network Interlaw, as well as of Stonewall, a diversity programme promoting gay and lesbian equality in the workplace. We actively encourage women, people from ethnic minorities and people with disabilities to apply for jobs with us.
We undertake a number of activities to promote diversity, opportunity and employee choice, and provide a forum to undertake non-work related activity with others in the firm, such as the RPC Choir, RPC netball team and various social events.
Female Insurance Group (FIG)
In April 2013, we launched the Female Insurance Group (FIG), a network aimed at putting women from across the insurance industry in touch with one another for support and professional development. Since the launch, , FIG now has over 450 members who come from across insurance and related industries and are in a variety of positions from claims to legal. FIG has hosted a number of events and workshops. Previous speakers include Mary McLeod MP, Mitie boss Ruby McGregor-Smith, and Anne Godbehere.
FIG's goal is to provide its members with access to women who have made it to board level or similar senior positions, to share their insight into the challenges to expect and how to overcome them. The FIG team at RPC also identified the need to equip our members with the necessary confidence and skills to develop and excel into their workplaces. We have therefore focussed on providing opportunities for members to learn, develop and hone their skills on a wide range of topics, from mentoring to influencing to having difficult conversations.
The successful network runs in the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.
