Our experience

  • Acting for insurer in the defence of commercial court proceedings for alleged breach of contract and misuse of confidential information brought by Towergate Underwriting Group Limited. The defence included challenging applications for injunctions
  • Representing a US based manufacturer of automotive components in a "battle of the forms" dispute relating to the terms of a supply agreement with its UK based supplier
  • Acting for private investors in a claim involving fraud and the misappropriation of investors' funds. A worldwide freezing order and summary judgment was obtained against the defendant
  • Representing the Sports Direct group in an application for delivery up of shares (to the value of £16 million) held by an Icelandic bank subject to a repurchase agreement. The bank entered administration after contracting to resell shares to Sports Direct, giving rise to questions over the specific enforceability of the contractual agreement and the passing of beneficial ownership
  • Acting in a LCIA arbitration for a firm of marine warranty surveyors in the defence of a claim brought by Middle Eastern insurers concerning the loss of an accommodation module during a load out for an offshore oil field
  • Acting for a German investment bank in a claim for declaratory relief as to the terms of a credit derivative transaction concluded orally, and for rectification of subsequent confirmatory documents
  • Acting in relation to two substantial ICC arbitrations in relation to a Middle Eastern government and advising on the impact of sanctions against that government on the award and its enforcement
  • Acting for Parallel Media in obtaining injunctions against an international sports organisation restraining the defendant from breaching confidentiality agreements and otherwise using certain confidential information
  • Acting for Springwell Navigation Corporation against JP Morgan Chase and its subsidiaries in what is regarded as one of the most significant banking disputes of recent years. The dispute involved allegations of negligent advice, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of the terms of various structured products sold by Chase to Springwell
