Jonathan Wood

As Head of International Arbitration, Jonathan specialises in international arbitration and dispute resolution in relation to international trade (including BIT claims), energy (including ECT issues), credit and political risk insurance, cultural property and specie, trade finance, public and private international law. He is former Chairman of the International Bar Association's International Sales Committee and is currently a member of the advisory board of the European Regional Forum. Jonathan has been an advisor to the British Government's Export Credit Guarantee Department for over 20 years.

• Handled litigation on the mandatory effect of the Commercial Agent's Directive on appeal in England and the relationship with parallel Canadian arbitration proceedings (Accentuate Ltd v Asigra Inc 2 Lloyd's Rep 599)
• Advised ECGD on letter of Credit Guarantee Scheme recently announced by the Government following the announcement of trade finance support at the G20 meeting in April
• Represented Russian property company in a dispute with bondholders with a value of over £250m
• Represented Tillman and Hartlepool, BVI companies involved in major LCIA arbitration and commercial litigation relation to Ukrainian Oblenergos (Power Companies) and associated corporate disputes arising out of the "Orange Revolution"
• Represented the Turkish Government and Italian contractors in the recovery of US$1I5m from insurers as a result of earthquake damage to the Ankara/Istanbul Highway
• Has handled numerous LCIA, ICC , LMAA ,AAA, FOSFA, GAFTA, ICSID , UNCITRAL and ad hoc arbitrations as counsel and has sat as arbitrator in many cases
