Here are the answers to some of the
questions you may want to ask. We hope it helps you make a decision.
When should I apply for a training place?
Our training contracts start in September. If you'd like to join us you'll need
to apply online by end July two years prior to your anticipated start date.
-
Non-law students should apply in their final year
-
Law students should apply in their penultimate year
-
Graduates can apply at any time
For the September 2012 intake, the deadline for training contract applications
is 31 July 2010.
Is the application form really that important?
Yes. Because we select the candidates we'll invite to take part in the next
stage, one of our recruitment days, entirely on the basis of the completed
application form. We find it gives us a good initial insight into your personal
qualities and how you might fit in.
Is it possible for me to take a gap year prior to commencing a training
contract?
Yes. Candidates can discuss any plans at interview which they may have to defer
their start date. Each case would be considered on an individual basis. It is
worth contacting the recruitment team to discuss your plans.
What do you look for in your trainees?
We look for good academic achievement – at least eight high grade GCSEs, three
high grade A levels and a 2:1 degree awarded or predicted, or the equivalent
qualifications. But there’s more to it than that. We’re looking for confident,
ambitious individuals. Natural communicators with energy, leadership,
commitment and an awareness of the commercial world.
Is it worthwhile applying for a training contract if I haven't been on a
vacation scheme with the firm?
Yes, definitely. We recognise that we are unable to offer vacation scheme places
to as many students as we would like and welcome applications from other
students.
