Salaries and benefits

We review salaries annually. As at September 2009 the starting salary for trainees is £37,000, rising to £40,000 for the second year of training.

We feel it is important to offer our employees a creative and competitive benefits package with choice and flexibility. Our award-winning benefits package can be viewed via our main website but core benefits include:
  • four weeks’ holiday
  • private medical scheme
  • pension
  • permanent health insurance
  • life cover
  • season ticket loan
  • subsidised staff cafe
Sponsorship

Financial support is offered to prospective trainees for the GDL and LPC. The firm will cover your fees and provide a maintenance grant. The maintenance grant is currently £6,500 per annum for trainees studying in London or Guildford, and £6,000 elsewhere in the country. Where applicable, finance available from your local education authority will be taken into account.

Before you join

From the moment you accept a training contract with us, you become part of the firm. You will be encouraged to build relationships with fellow future joiners at an early stage and we hold regular get-togethers and socials in order to facilitate this. We ask all our trainees to study their LPC at BPP, Holborn

The first few weeks of your training contract will be taken up with the core modules of the Professional Skills Course and our induction programme. The induction is designed to introduce you to RPC, the partners, the current trainees and the trainee development team.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Our policy is to encourage and support individuals who choose to get involved in pro bono work. Many of our partners, lawyers and managers give considerable time and energy to causes in which they believe. One current initiative is our participation in the Lloyds Community Programme. Among other things, the scheme enables employees to participate in a reading scheme at local schools and to act as career mentors to students.
