Charles Buckworth advises clients on a wide range of commercial matters, specialising in outsourcing and technology contracts.

Charles is a partner in the Commercial and Tech team and is a specialist tech and commercial lawyer across a broad range of sectors.  He has particular experience working on large-scale IT transactions and projects, including complex outsourcings across the financial services sector.  He also works on a range of other technology agreements for clients ranging from major corporates to start-ups.  

Charles trained at Allen & Overy LLP and arrived at RPC in 2016.  Since then he has formed a key part of RPC's tech and commercial practice and has grown an ever-expanding practice focused on tech, outsourcing and commercial contracts.  He was listed in The Lawyer's "Hot 100" for 2020.  He leads the firm's Fintech practice and also leads RPC's Tech Learning Programme which aims to ensure that RPC breeds a new generation of specialist tech lawyers.  Charles is also passionate about the firm's ESG priorities, and leads the firm's Health & Wellbeing ESG stream. 

Notable work this year includes advising on numerous strategic transactions and matters for the LINK Scheme (one of his longstanding clients) and advising on a large number of material IT and other transactions in the financial services sector (on both customer and supplier side), including for major brokers and insurers.  He is also active in the start-up space across a number of sectors, helping many of the firm's start-up clients establish businesses focusing on a range of services and technology, including SaaS, platforms, data analytics and ESG.
