A marine disputes specialist, Hugh Thomas has worked in the Singapore and London markets.
Hugh provides coverage advice across all marine lines of business including cargo, marine liability, and H&M (both yacht and commercial blue water vessels). Hugh advises on and pursues recovery actions for incidents giving rise to such claims, with experience of both dry and wet shipping disputes (particularly in relation to collision liability and salvage). He also advises underwriters on the detention of vessels in both West African and Asian ports and the coverage implications under those war policies.
In the energy market, he works on large losses in the offshore sector, often on third party liability exposures arising out of pipeline disruptions.
Hugh has experience of both London and international arbitration, as well as, litigating in the English High Court.
Hugh started his career with RPC in the firm's Singapore office, relocating to the London office in 2017. He has over seven years of market experience across both jurisdictions
