Mafruhdha Miah

Mafruhdha is an experienced litigator, and regularly advises clients in the publishing, broadcasting and tech and social media industries on a variety of contentious media and communications law related issues.

She has particular expertise of advising pre- and post-publication on defamation, privacy, harassment and data protection actions for a wide variety of media organisations and insurers. She has represented clients at the High Court and Court of Appeal and has experience of taking matters to trial as well as negotiating favourable settlements for her clients. 

Mafruhdha is currently acting for Associated Newspapers, publishers of the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline in respect of the claim brought by the Duchess of Sussex, and for the authors of the Trump Dossier in relation to multiple cross-jurisdictional actions arising from its unauthorised publication by BuzzFeed. She has also recently advised two social media and tech platforms in relation to potential representative actions brought for alleged breaches of data protection legislation. 

Mafruhdha also offers pre-publication advice to a range of national newspapers and magazine publishers, and regularly conducts libel reads for book publishers. 

She also spent 9 months on secondment at The Times and Sun newspapers in 2019. 

Mafruhdha is also a member of the firm's Ethnicity Work Stream, working to improve inclusion and diversity in the legal profession, and regularly provides pro-bono advice for NGOs and start-up businesses.
