Richard Burger has almost 20 years' experience advising corporate clients and senior individuals in domestic and international regulatory enforcement, criminal and internal corporate investigations.
Richard is a former enforcement lawyer with the FSA - the predecessor to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He advises regulated firms and senior managers under investigation by the FCA, Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Lloyd's of London and overseas financial regulators.
Using his experience of regulatory enforcement and from his time on secondment as senior in-house counsel for a London market insurer, Richard regularly advises boards and senior managers on: their engagements with the regulator; corporate governance; internal investigations; anti-financial crime and systemic failures.

As well as defending in criminal prosecutions, Richard has experience of investigating and commencing private prosecutions, he has prosecuted cases in the criminal courts on behalf of the Trading Standards department of a city council, FACT, the Law Society and FSA.
