Samantha Thompson is an experienced media lawyer with expertise across media and communication law and regulation

Samantha has extensive and varied experience acting for national and overseas publications, social media platforms, broadcasters, journalists, charities and other organisations seeking to protect freedom of expression and information.  She specialises in defamation, privacy, data protection claims, and media regulation, but also has experience in intellectual property, human rights, tech disputes and breach of confidence. 

Samantha has experience across all stages of litigation, including many pre-action settlements.  She has acted for clients in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights.  She is experienced in advising clients on interlocutory applications, ADR, costs claims and appeals, including the landmark Supreme Court hearing of Bloomberg LP v ZXC.  Samantha has worked in both our London and Hong Kong offices, and has experience advising on international and jurisdictional issues.
