RPC takes lead role acting for Hyperion on its acquisition of Perkins Slade

Published on 13 August 2015

City-headquartered law firm RPC has advised Howden UK, part of Hyperion Insurance Group, on its acquisition of leading independent insurance broker, Perkins Slade Forrest Holdings Limited.

Corporate Senior Counsel Peter Hill led a cross-disciplinary team from RPC, which included Partner Neil Brown, Associate Andrew Price and Trainee Patrick Murray from Corporate; Real Estate Partner David Johnston; Senior Counsel Charles Suchett-Kaye from Pensions; Corporate Tax Senior Associate Ben Roberts, and Employment Senior Associate Rachel Lord.

Perkins Slade, which is based in Birmingham, has specialisms in sport and recreation, corporate and high net worth private clients. The deal, which is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval, will establish a strong full-service platform in Birmingham for Howden UK, complementing its existing UK operations.

The deal is part of a string of insurance broker deals on which RPC's Corporate Insurance practice has advised recently, including acting for client RFIB on its sale to San Francisco based PE firm, Calera Capital, in June 2015.
