New team includes two new Partners and is expected to expand the firm's international offering

Professional services firm RPC has added significant strength to its London insurance practice with the hire of a new team, including two Partners, from US firm Sedgwick.

Naomi Vary and Karen Morrish both join RPC as Partners, bringing a wealth of experience between them. Naomi acts for clients on political risk, terrorism insurance, trade credit and other political matters. Meanwhile, Karen is a specialist in professional indemnity matters and defends claims against lawyers, financial advisers, accountants, and insurance intermediaries.

Simon Laird, Head of Insurance, said: "Bringing Naomi and Karen on board makes perfect sense for us. Naomi will be building out our political risk team in London and joining up with Geraldine Bourke in Singapore to add a truly international service to our clients. Karen joins a team which is operating at its capacity and needs to grow. She'll add real strength to the team and provide an impressive depth of experience that our clients in London and Bristol will benefit from.

"With Naomi and Karen's arrival to RPC, we'll be able to offer our clients the service they have been asking us for. We're bringing in a team of lawyers who are technically brilliant but who also understand the business of insurance."

Karen brings RPC's London professional indemnity team to seven Partners, while Naomi will launch the political risk team and join up with RPC 's existing Singapore based team.

Their hires come as the insurance practice saw three Senior Associates promoted to Legal Director. Helene Lee, Peter Rudd-Clarke and Rowan Brown all became Legal Directors on 1 November.
