Metal Technology Co. Ltd. is a leading metal processing company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company provides integrated metal processing services centred on metallurgy technologies, primarily in heat treatment and HIP (hot isostatic pressing) treatment. In 2010, the company established a subsidiary in China to build business relationships with customers in Asia.

The acquisition is expected to further expand Metal Technology Co’s overseas business and improve the group’s near-net shape technologies. The transaction completed on the 6th April.

The RPC team was led by Corporate RPC partner Nigel Collins. Working alongside RPC was the Swedish law firm Lindahl, led by Corporate Partner Gunnar Mattson, and Grant Thornton, led by Oliver Bridge and Masato Ohsugi.

Commenting on the transaction, Nigel Collins said: "It has been an absolute pleasure advising MTC on this strategically important transaction for the company. The whole team, including on the Sandvik side, have been excellent. In what has been a very difficult time for everyone, it is genuinely uplifting to see RPC's corporate team helping their clients navigate the challenges, and closing transactions."

“We appreciate RPC’s excellent support for our challenging project. I remember the day we first met with Nigel. His professional experience and deep understanding of Japanese culture reassured us considerably, and the project went very well actually. He has a lot of experience as an M&A advisor as well as in business and gave us some great practical advice. We could not have achieved this acquisition without his understanding and guidance, managing the excellent wider advisory team and with great communication skills.”
