RPC retains 79% of Trainees in latest UK intake

Published on 11 August 2015

City-headquartered law firm RPC has retained 79% of Trainees who are set to qualify in September 2015, meaning 15 of the 19 Trainees who applied to qualify at the firm in the UK have taken up NQ positions.

Of the 15 Trainees who qualified this year, 13 are based in London and two are based in Bristol.

RPC has a consistent record of retaining a high proportion of its Trainee solicitors, keeping on 87% in 2012, 81% in 2013 and 100% of those who applied for a position in 2014 in the UK.

Meanwhile, both Trainees based in RPC's Hong Kong office have qualified with the firm.

Managing Partner Jonathan Watmough said: "It is great to see that, even though we maintain rigidly high standards when it comes to both recruiting for our Trainee programme and the criteria we set for qualification, we continue to retain such a high percentage of Newly Qualified lawyers across our offices."

"We ensure that our lawyers, right from the very start, are the kind of people who don't just apply their legal skill set with a commercial mind, but are also creative, intellectually curious, and comfortable expressing their personalities in the work environment. It is essential for our lawyers to maintain this crucial mix and to be prepared to go that one step further for clients. This year's group is no exception – they have all demonstrated that they are ambitious and hard-working, and we are pleased to welcome them."
