Hermia is a commercial disputes lawyer with extensive experience in commercial disputes and international arbitration.

Hermia has advised and represented international and Chinese clients in a broad range of matters including disputes arising from breach of contract, cyber fraud, professional negligence, insolvency proceedings, interlocutory injunctions and regulatory investigation.  

During her training, Hermia was seconded to Melbourne, Australia where she represented an insurance company in the Royal Commission's investigation relating to the misconduct in the banking, superannuation and financial services industry.

Hermia speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. 

Relevant work

  • Acting for a PRC licensed trust financial institution in its application for an urgent domestic and worldwide Mareva injunction against its debtor and obligors, restricting them from disposing their assets up to the amount of RMB 3 billion and assisting in the main proceedings in Beijing

  • Acting for clients in cyber fraud cases, including for a Turkish bank in successfully recovering a large portion of the USD 20 million fraudulent sum from bank accounts of 21 defendants with urgent injunction applications in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore

  • Acting for a biotechnology company against a subsidiary of an HK listed company in an expedited HKIAC administered arbitration. Successfully obtaining a favourable award in seven months and resisting the application to set aside the arbitral award

  • Acting for a global business aviation company in an ICAC investigation for bribery over jet flight orders

  • Acting for a BVI trading company in an HKIAC administered arbitration in relation to a dispute arising out of a sale and purchase of 5 million allegedly sub-par face masks and setting aside the HK court interim injunction order in aid of arbitration
