Tim Shepherd specialises in defending professionals advisers. He also advises on policy coverage issues.

Tim is a solicitor-advocate who defends claims brought against a range of professional firms and individuals, in particular solicitors, barristers, accountants, insolvency practitioners and pension scheme consultants.

Tim is often involved in the defence of complex, high profile disputes arising from substantial property, corporate and financing transactions, as well as claims arising in a trusts, tax or pensions context. Tim has extensive experience in defending claims from a pre-action stage through to trial, and of handling litigation in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Tim is also frequently involved in resolving disputes by way of mediation and arbitration.

Tim’s practice often has multi-jurisdictional elements, spanning the US, Europe and the Far East. Tim also has experience of defending claims brought against lawyers and trustees based in offshore jurisdictions.

In addition, Tim assists professional advisers who are facing regulatory investigations and disciplinary proceedings. Tim has experience of dealing with a range of different bodies in this regard, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, the ICAEW, the FRC, the Serious Fraud Office and The Pensions Regulator.

Tim also advises insurers on policy coverage issues, and represents insurers in coverage disputes. 

Before joining RPC, Tim was a partner at a large international law firm.
