Oliver Knox is a senior associate in RPC's professional and financial risks insurance litigation team, specializing in advising London market insurers on complex coverage disputes and defending claims against financial institutions/professionals.
Broadly, his practice involves (1) advising financial and professional lines insurers on coverage under PI, D&O, and Crime / Fidelity insurance policy wordings and (2) defending wealth managers and professionals (including directors, solicitors and brokers) at each step of the litigation process in England & Wales. In addition, his work on D&O claims, invariably has an international element and requires close involvement with foreign counsel / advisers, whilst the complex subject matter of his defence work often requires expert evidence.
He trained at RPC (where, as well as insurance he experienced seats in banking litigation and corporate debt finance) and has undertaken secondments at Arch Syndicate 2012 and AXIS Capital. These experiences, together with previous positions in investment management and audit, set the basis for his understanding of technical financial products and the types of claims that might arise out of these. Between 2016 to 2018, he sat on the committee of the Under-35 British Insurance Law Association.
